Sólo pro jednu ruku
An exciting story about an obsession with music and the history of a fundamental composition by Leoš Janáček, at the beginning of which was a war wound of a pianist's hand. The central theme of the film is the story of one-armed pianist Otakar Hollmann (1894–1967), who was repeatedly wounded in the right hand in the trenches of the First World War. After the war, a large number of musicians appeared who had to leave their careers due to war injuries. However, despite this handicap, some worked towards virtuosity. Hollman's passion for music convinced Leoš Janáček (1854 - 1928) to compose the exceptional piano composition Capriccio for left-handed piano, which became an anti-war manifestation. The documentary is based on the never-before-published biography of Otakar Hollmann and his correspondence with Leoš Janáček. In addition to the historical line, narrated by film animations, the film will also feature contemporary performers, including Japanese one-handed Yasuyo Segawa.
